Expect Good Things! Three Word Wednesday
EXPECT GOOD THINGS
That’s my theme for this year. EXPECT. That’s my word.
I love words.
I love word games.
Speed Scrabble
Boggle.
Scattegories.
I love to look up the definition of words.
EXPECT’, verb transitive [Latin expecto; ex and specto, to look, that is, to reach forward, or to fix the eyes.]
1. To wait for.
Wait.
One word I don’t particularly care for.
Until I studied this…..
And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you (Isaiah 30: 18)
Instead of my waiting. He is waiting. Expecting. Looking. Longing.
To be gracious to me.
In order for me to expect good things, I have to turn my attention from myself, from speeding my own course (I’m good at that), looking to my own strength, making my own plans, trusting in myself and wait. EXPECT.
I have been wavering about a few decisions lately and I have realized through several prompts in Bible study that I don’t need to expect the worst or expect that I cannot make the right decision…..if I trust Him.
And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself any more, but your eyes will constantly behold your Teacher.
21 And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.- Isaiah 30-20,21
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.- Proverbs 3:5,6
So….I’m uncurling tight balled fists. I’m taking a deep breath or two or three. While God is waiting for me to throw out my idols and turn to Him, I am waiting on Him. He changes me while I rest and trust in Him. He makes straight my paths when I cannot see past the bend in the road. He carries me when I am weak and weary. When I eat the bread of adversity, I still behold my Teacher. He does not leave me in the midst of circumstances that I loathe or love. When bad things happen, it can still be a good day. For me. For you. Expect good things. Good things. Grace. Mercy. Love. Peace, regardless of your present circumstances.
